Shake it UP!
What are you having for breakfast? It is so important to start your day off with something nutritious for breakfast. Many people think skipping breakfast is a great way to lose weight, but in reality it sets you up to eat more during the day. Your body needs a healthy breakfast to start revving up the metabolism. If you skip breakfast, over time you will be lowering your metabolism.
Here are some great ways to get some highly nutritious foods in at breakfast time. Give them a try and let me know how you like them and how you feel.
1. Build a green protein smoothie.
In blender or Vitamix- Blend a fruit such as 1 c. blueberries, strawberries, 1 apple, or 1 kiwi ( organic if possible); 1 c. spinach or kale; 2. T. ground flax, hemp seeds, or chia seeds; 1-2 scoops of rice, pea or whey protein; 1 c. almond milk, low-fat milk, yogurt or water.
2. 1 c. oatmeal, 1 T. flax seed, 1/2 c. blueberries, 1c. almond milk
3. 1 c. low-fat yogurt, 1/2 c. homemade granola (recipe below), 1/2 grapefruit
4. 1 T. Almond Butter & 2 slices of whole grain bread, 1 c. almond milk, 1 tangerine
It is important to have a variety of foods, especially fruits and vegetables, so you get more fiber, phytochemicals and antioxidants. This allows for better digestion and supports your immune system.
